Position Overview

CDR Maguire Inc., a prominent national engineering firm, is actively seeking qualified Transportation Construction Inspectors for various projects. This role is essential for ensuring that construction activities align with established standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor contractor adherence to contract specifications and guidelines.
  • Engage with contractors, engineers, and project managers regarding construction plans, materials, and safety protocols.
  • Compile daily reports on project progress and maintain updated schedules.
  • Review shop drawings and contractor bids for discrepancies.
  • Document quantities and costs of materials utilized in construction.
  • Assess and recommend approval for contractors' payment requests based on progress.

Additional Duties:

  • Travel as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities or as instructed by management.
  • Foster a positive work environment that reflects pride and professionalism.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned that align with the role.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English, with basic math skills for measurements.
  • A minimum of one year of experience with PennDOT or two years in transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection is preferred.
  • Four years of relevant experience in highway or bridge construction, or successful completion of the twelve web-based TCI training modules can substitute for other experience.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or Construction may also fulfill experience requirements.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a non-Civil Engineering field, combined with completion of the twelve web-based TCI training modules, is acceptable.

Preferred Certifications:

  • NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
  • NECEPT Bituminous field certification
  • ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification
  • PennDOT/PTC CDS certification
  • Experience with ECMS
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification
