The role involves performing various technical tasks to ensure adherence to engineering construction standards for both public and private sector projects. The inspector will oversee work progress related to development and enhancement initiatives, with a particular focus on stormwater management and compliance.
Supervision:This position operates under the general oversight of the New Development Manager.
Responsibilities:- Conduct regular inspections of public infrastructure and construction methodologies.
- Engage in pre-construction discussions.
- Authorize work progress and issue notifications as necessary.
- Execute final inspections upon project completion.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation and records.
- Address and resolve construction-related issues.
- Monitor activities within public right-of-ways.
- Compile and analyze statistical data.
- Perform risk management assessments.
- Collaborate with the Stormwater Coordinator.
- Assist in the development of stormwater management strategies.
- Review existing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) for compliance.
- Investigate public complaints and provide recommendations.
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma is required, along with two years of specialized training in engineering methods and practices. A minimum of two years of relevant experience is also necessary, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Applicants should possess a working knowledge of civil engineering practices, effective communication skills, the ability to interpret technical plans, and the capability to build professional relationships. The role requires handling various physical tasks and frequent travel.
Special Requirements:
A valid driver's license is mandatory. Certification as a Public Works Inspector is preferred.
Work Environment:
This position demands frequent physical activity. Mental engagement includes memory retention, emotional stability, and analytical reasoning. Regular travel is expected.
