Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Logistics Coordinator II is responsible for inspecting incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring that all records such as manifests, invoices, or orders are accurate. This role involves documenting shipment details including weight, charges, and any discrepancies for reporting and recordkeeping purposes. The Logistics Coordinator II will oversee daily service requests, ensuring timely completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting essential documents like work orders and bills of lading
  • Communicating with representatives to resolve issues
  • Preparing materials for shipment through packing, sealing, and labeling
  • Utilizing hand tools, power tools, or postage meters as required
  • Coordinating with carriers for transport arrangements
  • Accurately receiving materials from vendors and verifying against packing lists
  • Inspecting incoming shipments and reporting any damaged items to the appropriate personnel
  • Organizing materials in designated storage areas systematically
  • Labeling materials and marking information on containers
  • Operating lift trucks or hand trucks to move materials efficiently
  • Unpacking and routing incoming shipments, addressing shortages, and liaising with shippers
  • Maintaining an inventory of shipping supplies
  • Executing necessary computer functions to track goods
  • Facilitating the shipment of produced goods and supplies for production/storage
  • Arranging carrier pickups as specified in customer orders
  • Reporting defective materials or issues to supervisors
  • Ensuring an adequate supply of shipping materials is maintained
  • Keeping the workspace and equipment clean and adhering to safety regulations
  • Making pickups and deliveries to suppliers using a company vehicle
  • Processing domestic and international shipments with the required documentation
  • Responding promptly to internal inquiries regarding shipping processes
  • Training new staff on departmental processes and standard operating procedures

Work Environment:

This position operates within a professional warehouse setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. The employee frequently communicates with colleagues and clients, requiring accurate information exchange. The role necessitates remaining stationary for 40% of the time, with occasional movement within the office. The employee must regularly operate office machinery and may need to lift boxes weighing up to 50lbs.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma is required
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently
  • Familiarity with standard warehouse procedures
  • Proficient in reading and writing English, following verbal instructions, and performing basic math
  • Experience with forklifts and pallet jacks is a plus
  • Knowledge of shipping software such as FedEx Ship Manager and UPS WorldShip
  • Understanding of LTL and truckload shipping processes
  • Familiarity with hazmat shipping regulations
  • Experience with warehouse management systems
  • Valid driver's license is required
  • Prior experience in shipping and receiving is essential
