Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Logistics Coordinator II is responsible for inspecting incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring that all items match the provided documentation such as invoices and orders. This role involves meticulous record-keeping of shipment details including weight, costs, and any discrepancies for accounting and reporting purposes. The Logistics Coordinator II will also oversee daily service requests, ensuring timely completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting essential documents like work orders and bills of lading
  • Communicating with company representatives to resolve shipment issues
  • Preparing items for transport through packing, sealing, and labeling
  • Utilizing hand tools and equipment for shipping tasks
  • Coordinating with carriers to arrange transportation
  • Accurately receiving materials from vendors and verifying against packing lists
  • Inspecting incoming shipments and reporting any damaged items to management
  • Organizing materials in designated storage areas efficiently
  • Labeling materials and marking information on containers
  • Operating forklifts or hand trucks to move materials
  • Unpacking and routing incoming shipments, handling returns for defective items
  • Maintaining inventory of shipping supplies
  • Performing necessary computer functions to track shipments
  • Facilitating the shipment of goods produced and received for production/storage
  • Arranging carrier pickups as per customer orders
  • Reporting defective materials to supervisors
  • Ensuring adequate supplies of shipping materials are maintained
  • Keeping the workspace and equipment clean and orderly, adhering to safety regulations
  • Making pickups and deliveries to suppliers using a company vehicle
  • Processing domestic and international shipments with required documentation
  • Responding promptly to internal inquiries regarding shipping processes
  • Training new team members on departmental procedures and standards

Work Environment:

This position operates within a professional warehouse setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers and photocopiers.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands for this role require the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients. The employee must remain stationary for a portion of the time and may need to move around the office to access equipment. Frequent operation of computers and machinery is necessary, along with the ability to lift boxes weighing up to 50lbs.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma is required
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Familiarity with standard warehouse procedures
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and basic math
  • Experience with forklifts or pallet jacks is advantageous
  • Knowledge of shipping software such as FedEx Ship Manager and UPS WorldShip
  • Understanding of LTL and truckload shipping processes
  • Familiarity with hazmat shipping regulations
  • Proficient in using WMS systems for processing shipments
  • Valid driver's license is required
  • Prior experience in shipping and receiving is preferred
