Job Summary

The City of Santa Rosa is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director Human Resources to join our team. This senior-level management position is responsible for assisting the Human Resources Director in managing human resources programs and services in a major division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Human Resources Director in establishing and achieving department priorities, goals, and objectives.
  • Oversee a range of human resources and/or risk management programs and services.
  • Review and evaluate changes in City, State, and Federal laws or regulations that impact the delivery of human resources and/or risk management services.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the performance of management and professional personnel engaged in assigned human resources activities.
  • Provide guidance to department heads and departmental managers on sensitive, complex, and technical human resources and/or risk management matters.
Requirements
  • Typically requires five years of progressively responsible experience managing human resources functions in the public sector, including two years in a supervisory role.
  • Related Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major study in human resource management, public administration, business administration, industrial or labor relations, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field.
  • SHRM, SPHR, PHR, or similar human resources/risk management certification(s) are desirable.
