Job Summary

The purpose of this role is to provide administrative support to physicians in a clinical setting, allowing them to focus on patient care. As a Medical Scribe, you will be responsible for accurately documenting patient encounters, physician orders, and other relevant information in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accompany physicians into patient examination rooms to transcribe patient history, physical exam findings, and document the physician's encounter with the patient.
  • Enter diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescription refills as dictated and signed by the physician.
  • Enter patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and hospital procedures, as dictated and signed by the physician.
  • Prepare plans for follow-up care, as directed by the physician.
  • Provide advanced support to physicians, including documenting phone calls, scanning outside medical records, completing and following up on internal and external referrals, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
  • Travel with physicians to outlying clinics as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • No previous experience is required, but 6 months of experience as a Medical Scribe is preferred.
  • Medical scribe certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and/or ICD 9 & 10 coding is preferred.
