Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Inpatient Surgery Trauma ICU
As a leading academic medical center, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care through our advanced practice providers. Our facility is recognized for its expertise in trauma care, housing a Level I Adult Trauma Center and a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.
We are currently seeking skilled APPs (Acute Care Certified Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants) to enhance our intensive care unit (ICU) night team.
The APP will be responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care to our Trauma ICU, Surgical ICU, and Burn ICU patients during night shifts, typically 3-4 nights per week, with limited weekend responsibilities. Our team benefits from in-house attending surgical physician support and resident physician collaboration.
In partnership with an attending surgeon, the APP will provide direct patient care, which includes:
- Assessment, management, and referral of complex health issues.
- Pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.
- Managing trauma surgery admissions to the ICU and overseeing nightly inpatient care.
- Occasional assistance in the operating room.
Additional responsibilities encompass:
- Administering specialized care for complex medical conditions.
- Performing surgical bedside procedures such as incision and drainage, laceration repairs, and central line placements.
- Supporting optimal care delivery for surgical patients.
- Maintaining high standards of customer service throughout the healthcare system.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited PA or Acute Care APRN program.
- Current licensure in the State of Ohio.
- Experience in inpatient settings, trauma, general surgery, or ICU as an APRN or PA.
- BLS and ACLS certification.
- Expertise in sterile techniques and aseptic practices.
- Knowledge of medications, treatments, and procedures relevant to surgical care.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Capacity to meet clinical privilege requirements within 90 days of employment.
