Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Advanced Practice Provider to become a vital member of our inpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery team at University Hospitals. Candidates with a minimum of one year of APP experience are preferred, although we are open to considering new graduates who possess relevant cardiothoracic experience. The role involves 12-hour day shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. Please note that this position does not include operating room responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations and establish diagnoses based on collected assessment data and contemporary scientific research.
- Develop and execute comprehensive care plans, implementing interventions that align with established care pathways, protocols, and standards.
- Engage in collaborative care with other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient and family care.
- Order and carry out standard diagnostic tests.
- Formulate and implement effective treatment strategies.
- Assess the success of therapeutic interventions.
- Contribute to the educational growth of staff, patients, families, and oneself.
- Exhibit leadership qualities and effective management skills.
- Provide educational support through role modeling and training sessions to address identified learning needs and promote professionalism.

Qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
Proven competency as a healthcare practitioner
Strong verbal and written communication abilities
Familiarity with various technical patient care equipment relevant to the clinical setting
Proficient in using computers and selected office tools.
Educational Background:
Nurse Practitioner: Doctorate in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on clinical practice.

Physician Assistant: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant training program with NCCPA certification.
Licensure and Certification:
Nurse Practitioner: BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred; valid Registered Nurse license to practice in Ohio; current APRN license to practice in Ohio.
