Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Inpatient Surgery Trauma ICU

As a leading academic medical center, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care through our Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. Our facility accommodates over one million patient visits each year and is affiliated with a prestigious medical school, recognized for its commitment to nursing excellence.

We are currently seeking qualified APPs (Acute Care Certified Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants) to enhance our intensive care unit (ICU) night team.

The APP will be responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care for our Trauma ICU, Surgical ICU, and Burn ICU patients during night shifts at our main campus, working 3-4 nights per week with limited weekend responsibilities. Support from attending surgical physicians and resident physicians will be readily available.

In collaboration with an attending surgeon, the APP will engage in direct patient care, which includes:

  • Identifying, managing, and referring health issues.
  • Providing pre-, intra-, and post-operative care.
  • Managing trauma surgery admissions to the ICU and overseeing nightly inpatient care.
  • Occasionally assisting in the operating room.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Managing complex medical conditions and delivering specialized care.
  • Performing surgical bedside procedures such as incision and drainage, laceration repairs, and central line placements.
  • Supporting optimal care for surgical patients.
  • Maintaining high standards of customer service throughout the healthcare system.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited program (PA / Acute Care APRN).
  • Current licensure in the State of Ohio.
  • Experience in inpatient care, trauma or general surgery, or ICU as an APRN or PA.
  • BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Proficiency in sterile techniques and aseptic practices.
  • Knowledge of medications, treatments, and procedures in a surgical setting.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to meet clinical privilege requirements within 90 days of placement.
