Job OverviewPosition Summary

We are looking for an Advanced Practice Provider to join our Adult inpatient Cardiac Surgery team. This role does not involve operating room duties. Candidates with experience in cardiac surgery or those who have completed clinical rotations in cardiology are preferred, although new graduates with relevant experience will also be considered. The work schedule consists of twenty 12-hour shifts over a 6-week period, including rotating days, nights, weekends, and holidays. A Nurse Practitioner must possess Acute Care certification.

  • Conducts comprehensive patient evaluations and formulates diagnoses based on collected assessment data and the latest scientific research.
  • Develops and executes care plans, implementing interventions aligned with established care pathways, protocols, and standards of practice.
  • Engages in collaborative efforts with other healthcare professionals to deliver optimal care to patients and their families.
  • Participates in the educational growth of staff, patients, families, and self.
  • Exhibits leadership qualities and effective management skills.
  • Provides educational opportunities through role modeling and training sessions to address identified learning needs and foster professionalism.
  • Pursues personal professional growth through self-directed learning, continuing education, and involvement in peer review processes.

Qualifications

Education and Expertise:
Nurse Practitioner:
Doctorate in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on clinical practice.
-or-
Physician Assistant:
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant training program with NCCPA certification.

Licensure and Certification Requirements:
Nurse Practitioner:
Valid RN license to practice in Ohio.
Current APRN license to practice in Ohio.
-or-
Physician Assistant:
NCCPA-certified PA (PA-C) or eligible for certification.
Must fulfill all requirements set by the Ohio State Medical Board for Physician Assistants.
Approval from the Ohio State Medical Board for the standard or supplemental physician assistant utilization plan and supervision agreement is required prior to commencing work as a PA.
Credentialing by the University Hospitals of Cleveland credentialing office is mandatory before starting work as a PA.
