Job Description

The Business Development Manager plays a crucial role in driving growth and revenue for Binding Minds Inc. by developing and sustaining a loyal client base for the Business Restructuring, Tax and Executive Compensation group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Business Development Plans: Lead the development of concise and actionable business development and marketing plans, collaborating closely with Senior Business Development Manager to ensure plans integrate with and support firmwide marketing and business development goals and strategies.
  • Cross-Selling and Collaboration: Collaborate with other relevant practice groups to promote cross-selling ideas and consistently demonstrate the value that Marketing Department resources can bring to bear in meeting the firm's financial and practice goals.
  • Pitch and RFP/RFI Strategies: Advise attorneys on optimal strategies for the preparation of complex pitches and RFP/RFI responses, demonstrating the ability to match the client needs with MoFo's Business Restructuring, Tax and Executive Compensation capabilities and value-adds.
  • Implement Business Development Plans: Implement business development and marketing plans for Business Restructuring, Tax and Executive Compensation groups, managing, appropriately budgeting for, and measuring progress against stated goals, communicating wins and troubleshooting challenges or stalled activities with practice co-chairs.
  • Marketing Content Creation: Draft and maintain marketing content for assigned practice group websites, including practice group descriptions, bios, and related content.
  • Client Development Seminars: Strategically plan and execute client development seminars/events, collaborating closely with practice groups and Marketing Department, assisting with all stages of seminar and event development and implementation, from targeting attendance participation to leading action-oriented follow-up.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Conduct competitive intelligence and research for active pitch opportunities, prospective targets, industries, markets, and conflicts via firmwide resources, ensuring existing client relationships are fully mined and leveraged where possible.
  • Market Positioning: Enhance the position of the firm or practice group in the marketplace by proactively identifying speaking and sponsorship opportunities, collaborating closely with practice group leaders and Marketing Department, targeting appropriate membership opportunities, creating visibility, and advancing business development goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • Professional Experience: Five or more years of professional services business development and/or marketing experience; law firm experience highly preferred.
  • Business Acumen: Thorough knowledge of Business Restructuring practice, with direct work experience a plus.
  • Marketing Principles: Strong knowledge of core marketing principles including driving innovative tools and programs, competitive intelligence, market research, and pitch and RFP responses.
  • Communication Skills: High degree of motivation, with driving sense of responsibility, accountability, and responsiveness.
  • Writing Skills: Excellent writing skills, ability to focus written materials to ensure impact on general business, legal, and niche populations.
  • Business Development: Strong business acumen: the ability to recognize marketing and business development opportunities and to pursue them strategically.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail in all areas, including writing, copy editing, researching, and managing data.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong presentation and communication skills, outstanding interpersonal skills, and capability to work effectively in a matrixed organization.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and project management skills, ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under deadlines.
  • Decision-Making: Ability to quickly assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions, including ability to draw clear conclusions from a diverse collection of data.
