Job Overview

Covenant House Florida Inc is seeking a dedicated Human Resources Specialist to join our team. This role plays a crucial part in supporting all aspects of HR programs, including recruiting, employee records, benefits administration, training coordination, and volunteer management.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, in-depth knowledge of the recruiting process, and labor regulations. This position requires on-site work and supports both locations, reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources in Fort Lauderdale.

Key Responsibilities:
  • • Achieve staffing objectives by recruiting and evaluating job candidates, referring suitable candidates to the hiring manager, and managing volunteer and intern programs at all Covenant House Florida locations.

    • Develop applicant sources by researching community services, colleges, employment agencies, recruiters, media, and internet sites, providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits, making presentations, and maintaining rapport.

    • Coordinate the onboarding process for new team members, interns, and volunteers, including verification of credentials, signed job descriptions, conducting background screenings, and reference checks, as well as orientation and new hire benefits provision.

    • Assist the Director of Human Resources with employee benefit and wellness program administration, including planning open enrollment, processing monthly bills, and verifying enrollment information.

    • Maintain accurate personnel, intern, and volunteer records, ensuring documentation compliance with licensing standards and governmental regulations.

    • Ensure adherence to the agency's Mission and Principles when interacting with team members, interns, and volunteers, which may include investigations and disciplinary actions up to termination, as directed by the Human Resources Director.

    • Identify opportunities to enhance the work environment and culture, coordinate team engagement activities and events, such as health and wellness initiatives, recruitment efforts, employee recognition programs, and professional development.

Requirements:

This role requires an Associate's degree in business administration, human resources, or a related field, with a Bachelor's degree preferred. SHRM or HRCI certification is also desired. The ideal candidate should have two years of experience in a similar capacity, possessing strong organizational and communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capability to maintain sensitive documentation. A valid FL driver's license and good driving record are necessary.

The estimated annual salary for this role is around $65,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
