Position Overview:
The Lead Commissioning Engineer will report to a team leader and will be pivotal in delivering and executing our professional services for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and associated systems.

Key responsibilities include managing office tasks, overseeing time and expense reporting, validating in-field installations, preparing field observation reports, conducting functional performance tests, and facilitating both on-site and factory witness testing. Additional duties encompass drafting reports and meeting notes, reviewing submittals, and evaluating design documentation.

Moreover, the role involves achieving target billable hours, managing tasks within allocated budgets, leading commissioning meetings, aiding the construction team in resolving technical challenges, and interpreting contract documents to identify scope gaps, enhance client value, and mitigate risks.

Administrative responsibilities include assisting the team leader with weekly staff scheduling, mentoring team members on documentation practices, field procedures, and equipment utilization, participating in and leading company-wide safety and training initiatives, and fostering relationships with existing clients to support revenue and quality assurance objectives.

Travel to various job sites within the designated region is a requirement for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in HVACR, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or an Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or a related field, along with relevant construction, maintenance, or engineering controls experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years in a related staff or intern role, or 3+ years in the commissioning industry.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing the interconnectivity of building systems, including pumps, fans, motors, air ventilation, chillers, boilers, steam distribution, heat absorption, building automation systems, optimization techniques, electrical distribution, fire alarms, variable refrigerant flow, and wastewater systems.
  • Proficient understanding of construction drawings, specifications, bidding processes, and related industry documentation.
  • Ability to independently solve problems and work effectively in a team setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Public speaking and presentation capabilities.
  • Adaptability to diverse indoor and outdoor working conditions.
  • Physical fitness to lift at least 30 pounds and climb ladders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Involvement in trade associations.
  • Possession of EIT, ACP, CEM, or similar certifications.
  • OSHA 30 or other workplace safety certifications.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Compensation is commensurate with experience, ranging from $110k to $150k.
