We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fire Alarm Systems Technician to join our team at Berkshire Systems Group Inc. As a Fire Alarm Systems Technician, you will be responsible for commissioning, maintaining, repairing, and providing customer support for Fire Alarm Systems.
Key Responsibilities- Commission and modify basic fire alarm systems, including addition or deletion of panel hardware, circuit boards, detectors, stations, modules, notification appliances, etc.
- Perform on-site service, installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on fire alarm systems.
- Test fire system operations to satisfy code requirements.
- Complete thorough and timely documentation of all activities, including service reports, expense reports, quality alerts, and maintenance reports.
- Read and interpret engineered site drawings, manufacturer operating manuals/documentation, and matrices of operation.
- Participate in on-call rotation.
- Strong technical knowledge with an electronics background and a solid skillset/foundation with Fire Alarm systems.
- Ability to commission and modify basic fire alarm systems.
- Demonstrated ability to use multimeter, lineman's telephone test set, and basic electronic theory.
- Solid customer service and communication skills.
- Impeccable organizational and multi-tasking skills in a professional setting.
- At least one (1) year of experience with Fire Alarm system installations.
- Associate's degree in Electronics or related field.
- Industry certifications such as NICET and formalized manufacturer training.
The ideal candidate will possess the physical ability to ascend/descend ladders and stairs, and access elevated areas to inspect fire alarm system components installed at various heights.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Must have hand dexterity to manipulate and handle materials.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a daily continuous basis.
