**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Kirby Corporation. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and implementing programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Assist and advise the organization on regulatory compliance and implementation of programs to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Identify trends in EHS performance and create interventions to improve.
  • Clarify regulatory issues and advise managers on EHS matters.
  • Assist with incident investigations and research different resources for problem solving.
  • Interact with physicians on injury cases and maintain Third Party Contractor Management database.
  • Conduct customer safety meetings and site visits, as well as announced and unannounced visits.
  • Lead EHS audits and meet with managers and employees to initiate program improvements.
  • Attend committee meetings and work with management to identify resources required to meet agreed upon goals for performance improvement.
  • Identify trends, look for internal and external best practices, and create and implement programs for EHS performance improvement.
  • Work with vendors/consultants as needed and identify regulations applicable to business, keeping current with regulations.
  • Implement programs to ensure compliance and correct deficiencies, audit or assess program effectiveness for compliance, and create and submit regulatory required reports.
  • Provide monthly EHS performance reports for lagging and leading indicators and routine progress reports on program improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor for both soft and hard skills, and identify incident trends and create programs with operations leadership that improve performance, reduce hazards and/or risk in a cost-effective manner.

**Requirements**

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and four to ten years related experience required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
