Key Responsibilities
  • Manage staff responsible for certification and surveillance of MCOs

  • Analyze state and federal legislation related to managed care and review for impact on existing program operations

  • Review and evaluate existing procedures impacting unit activities and recommend changes to increase efficiency
  • Monitor tasks assigned to unit staff, identify potential issues, and ensure quality standards and deadlines are met

  • Serve as liaison with other bureaus, state agencies, and stakeholders to successfully implement managed care policies
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public health, healthcare administration, and program management. A current NYS Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive status as a Health Program Administrator 3, G-27, or a NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title at or above a G-25 and deemed eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of the NYS Civil Service Law, is required.

Preferred qualifications include knowledge of Medicaid Program, Managed Care Delivery Models, Public Health Law and Regulation, project management, and Microsoft Office Application.
