Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Healthcare Surveyor to join our team at the New York State Department of Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting surveillance activities at hospitals, dialysis facilities, and other healthcare settings to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and conduct federal and state surveillance activities at healthcare facilities
  • Prepare Statements of Deficiency and review and approve Plans of Correction
  • Review facility policies and procedures for Certificate of Need and conduct onsite pre-opening surveys for licensure
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations
Requirements
  • Current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State
  • Three years of post-licensure, specialized professional administrative or professional clinical experience
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master's degree in nursing may substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional experience as an RN in an acute care setting and familiar with the hospital surveillance process and State and Federal Laws and Regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function independently and work as a member of a team, prioritize and address multiple tasks and responsibilities
