Quality Assurance Inspector for Launch Operations

LAUNCH QUALITY INSPECTOR

As a critical component of our operations, the Launch Quality Inspector serves as the final checkpoint to ensure mission success. You will conduct thorough inspections throughout the production process, confirming that all essential performance and design specifications are met or surpassed during testing phases.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct both in-process and final inspections on structural and propulsion components, including mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Verify and support the development and acceptance testing of structures and propulsion systems, ensuring compliance with design and testing standards.
  • Document any production and testing discrepancies according to established protocols.
  • Facilitate communication and resolution of quality-related issues across various SpaceX locations.
  • Manage non-conforming products effectively.
  • Observe technical operations regularly and provide guidance or serve as an additional technical resource.
  • Assess manufacturing compliance with NASA and customer specifications to meet mission and launch requirements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of inspection experience in aerospace, military, or manufacturing settings.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree or higher in quality assurance, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Possession of an FAA airframe and powerplant (A&P) certificate.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance methodologies and processes.
  • Understanding of avionics and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of aerospace propulsion principles.
  • Awareness of aerospace structural integrity.
  • Experience with ground support engineering/equipment systems.
  • Proficient in aerospace standards and practices.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Intermediate proficiency with Windows operating systems.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work one of the designated shifts:
    • Weekend 1st shift: Friday - Monday from 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM
    • Weekend 2nd shift: Friday - Monday from 5:00 PM - 5:00 AM
    • 1st shift: Monday - Friday from 5:00 AM - 3:00 PM
    • 2nd shift: Monday - Friday from 3:00 PM - 2:00 AM
  • Capability to pass a background check for security clearance.
  • Willingness to work in confined spaces and climb ladders as necessary.
  • Availability to work overtime to meet urgent deadlines.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range for the Launch Quality Inspector position varies by level:

  • Level 1: $34.00/hour
  • Level 2: $40.75/hour
  • Level 3: $47.25/hour

Your specific level and salary will be determined based on your experience, skills, and education.

In addition to base salary, you may be eligible for long-term incentives, stock options, discretionary bonuses, and access to comprehensive health benefits, a 401(k) retirement plan, disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other perks. You will also accrue paid vacation and receive paid holidays throughout the year.
