Compensation:

Compensation is commensurate with experience. This position is covered under the Virginia Retirement System.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The role involves providing strategic direction, oversight, and growth for various regional educational initiatives under the Hampton City School District. This includes managing a comprehensive program that encompasses multiple educational divisions, such as Career and Technical Education, Advanced Academic Programs, and specialized centers for diverse learning needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Lead the vision and execution of all regional educational initiatives.
  2. Oversee the financial management of the district, ensuring alignment with educational and administrative objectives.
  3. Develop innovative strategies that identify trends and opportunities to enhance the district's strategic plan.
  4. Implement effective instructional programs that meet the goals of the educational divisions.
  5. Regularly advise the Superintendent and Board of Trustees on program effectiveness and organizational needs.
  6. Manage the preparation and submission of the annual budget in collaboration with district leadership.
  7. Establish efficient financial controls and procedures for all expenditures.
  8. Assess and forecast staffing needs, participating in recruitment and staff management processes.
  9. Coordinate grant writing and fundraising initiatives to support educational programs.
  10. Facilitate professional development opportunities for staff to improve instructional quality.
  11. Ensure the upkeep and proper utilization of district facilities.
  12. Identify and manage capital improvement projects to adapt to the evolving educational landscape.
  13. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about educational advancements.
  14. Collaborate with staff and community stakeholders to foster a conducive learning environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's Degree (Advanced Degree preferred)
  2. Postgraduate Professional License - Administration and Supervision PreK-12
  3. Minimum five years of administrative experience at the school principal level or higher.
  4. Experience in overseeing specialized educational programs.
  5. Knowledge of state and federal human resources regulations.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

Candidates must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with an Administration and Supervision K-12 endorsement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Flexible work schedule may include evening and weekend hours for community engagement.

EVALUATION:

Annual performance evaluations will be conducted by the Superintendent.
