The USTA Midwest Section is a key player in the national framework of tennis governance in the United States. Role Summary

The Tournament Manager is responsible for the comprehensive management of both Junior and Adult tournaments, including those for younger players. This role involves training and guiding tournament directors, parents, and providers on USTA Tournament Regulations, Serve Tennis, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities, with a capacity to work both independently and collaboratively. Flexibility to work outside standard hours is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and oversee the tournament schedule for junior and adult competitions in the Midwest.
  • Manage the annual tournament application, sanctioning, and approval processes.
  • Regularly assess events to ensure adherence to regulations and quality benchmarks.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on Serve Tennis and Tournament Desk software, competitive tournaments, and player rankings.
  • Conduct training sessions for coaches, parents, and providers regarding Junior and Adult Competitive Pathways and Regulations.
  • Provide expertise on competitive events, including selection and seeding processes, withdrawal procedures, court scheduling, and weather-related policies.
  • Create and distribute resources to support District staff and tournament directors.
  • Collaborate with USTA National Staff to ensure compliance and integration of new initiatives.
  • Engage with other USTA Sections to exchange leading practices and insights.
  • Support the USTA Midwest Junior Competition Committee and Officials Committee.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • A four-year college degree is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a tennis-related role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with tennis programming and tournament administration is advantageous.
  • Experience with the Serve Tennis tournament platform is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite is preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and experience working with volunteers are required.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities with a keen attention to detail are essential.
Work Environment

This position primarily operates in a general office environment with occasional outdoor activities. Moderate noise levels are expected.

Travel Requirements

Minimal overnight travel may be required, primarily within the Midwest Section.
