Position Overview:
We are thrilled to share that our team is expanding in response to the growing demand for innovative solutions in the nuclear energy sector.

About Us:
Sargent & Lundy is at the forefront of nuclear power generation, focusing on the digitization of existing facilities and the development of new nuclear power plants, including small modular reactors (SMR).

Role Summary:
This is an entry-level engineering position within our Instrumentation and Controls Engineering division, presenting a variety of engaging and challenging tasks in the field of nuclear instrumentation and controls. This role is designed to facilitate your professional growth and career advancement.

Key Responsibilities:
You will collaborate with discipline engineers and project designers to ensure that all client specifications are met. Your work will encompass major projects in the following areas:

  • Digital Systems including PLC, DCS, touchscreen interfaces, network switches, and control systems.
  • Development of Functional Requirement and Procurement Specifications for instrumentation and control systems tailored for nuclear facilities.
  • Conducting evaluations for process instrumentation replacements.
  • Preparing documentation for design inputs, including cable block diagrams and schematics.
  • Engaging with vendors to create equipment purchase specifications.
  • Producing reports and studies that clearly convey technical information to meet client expectations.
  • Participating in client meetings and site assessments to ensure satisfaction with our deliverables.
  • Providing mentorship to junior engineers in the field of nuclear instrumentation and controls design.

Work Environment:
This position operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring in-office attendance three days per week.

Qualifications:
We do not provide sponsorship for work authorization in the U.S. for this role.

Essential Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in design engineering for process control systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Experience in reviewing design documentation produced by others.

Preferred Skills:
- Experience in design engineering for control systems in nuclear power plants.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
