Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Health Information Services Representative I to join our team at Ellis Medicine. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, customers, and staff while ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of patient information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Retrieve and process discharge inpatient and outpatient records, verifying that a medical record is received for every patient per the daily discharge lists.
  • Create, maintain, analyze, correct, and ensure accuracy of electronic and paper medical records and physician documentation.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures when releasing information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Verify identification of customers receiving patient information to ensure requests for release of information follow HIPAA, federal, and state laws.
  • Prepare records for scanning by validating visit numbers and ensuring documentation belongs to the correct patient.
  • Operate high-speed document imaging equipment and review scanned images for errors.
  • Search and retrieve misfiled transcribed reports and assign deficiencies to physicians.
  • Compare scanned documents to documents filed in Soarian EDM, verifying page counts and correct patient information.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
  • 6 months medical record or clerical experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Good alphanumeric filing, typing, computer, and communication skills, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology preferred.
