Job Title: Relief Residential Counselor

Job Summary:

The Relief Residential Counselor provides support and counseling services to adults with psychiatric, substance abuse, and/or HIV/AIDS-related disabilities. This role advocates for and responds to clients' treatment and rehabilitation needs, promoting social rehabilitation and daily living skills in a safe and healthy environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake interviews and assist with client treatment plan development, implementation, and discharge planning.
  • Assess clients' clinical needs and evaluate potential crisis situations, determining appropriate interventions.
  • Lead individual and group counseling sessions, monitoring and documenting clients' progress toward achieving individual goals.
  • Maintain shift coverage and primary supervision and support of residential clients, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
  • Act as a role model, guiding clients in daily living skills, self-care, personal interaction, social relationships, and constructive time management.
  • Facilitate and supervise clients with residential house chores, meal preparation, and group activities.
  • Link clients with primary care providers and assist with identifying and accessing community resources.
  • Participate in staff and shift change meetings, maintaining professional boundaries with clients and staff.
  • Meet agency staff development training requirements and promote agency mission, purpose, and values in relationships with internal and external partners.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of full-time experience in a program serving people with mental disabilities, with direct service provision to clients.
  • DOJ clearance required for certain Baker Places, Inc. treatment programs.
  • Exemplary customer service, compassion, and care in the execution of all duties and interactions.

Work Environment:

Relief Residential Counselors work at various San Francisco worksites, providing support and counseling services to adults with psychiatric, substance abuse, and/or HIV/AIDS-related disabilities.
