Job Summary:

The Carter Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director, Development to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing key aspects of our fundraising events, including overseeing the auction database, cataloging donated items, researching and writing item descriptions, updating entries post-auction, and coordinating catalog production and photo shoots.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies for identifying, cultivating, and successfully soliciting individuals for gifts.
  • Solicit gifts in support of the unit and manage a portfolio of donors and prospects through a schedule of solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship calls.
  • Build relationships with current and prospective donors, alumni, and volunteers to support programs and priorities.
  • Write and edit communication materials directed at donors and develop strategies for marketing new and existing programs.
  • Maintain information on selected donors and prospects, including contact reports in the CRM system.
  • Communicate in ways that are donor-centric, while furthering the mission of The Carter Center.
  • Travel to event locations to meet with donors as needed and assist in planning, organizing, and executing the Carter Center Weekend and other related donor events.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree and three years of experience in fundraising or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training.
  • Strong interpersonal and long-term relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in written and oral forms.
  • Ability to understand and articulate the mission and goals of The Carter Center and its programs in a compelling manner.
  • Excellent follow-up and organizational skills, as well as familiarity with mass mailings and event planning.
  • High degree of competency with Microsoft Office software and Raiser's Edge constituent management system.

Working Conditions:

This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly, but must be able to commute to The Carter Center on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. All non-exempt employees must reside within the state of Georgia.
