Job Summary

The Carter Center is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Development to support the Programs Development Department in planning and implementing fundraising activities for the Health, Peace, and Education Programs. This role is crucial to the financial health of the Carter Center, with annual funding needs of $75-100 million and management of over 100 grants and contributions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a specific portfolio of fundraising projects, collaborating with Senior Associate Directors to advance fundraising and donor stewardship.
  • Work with the team on writing projects and system improvements for grants management.
  • Research, identify, and prepare written solicitations to donor prospects.
  • Draft and edit donor correspondence and proposals in support of the Carter Center's Health, Peace, and Education Programs.
  • Develop and implement systems that improve the overall Programs Development department's complex grant oversight and management.
  • Ensure accurate donor record management and compliance with donor branding requirements.
  • Support donor recognition through drafting/editing articles, press releases, public statements, social media coverage, and recognition in presentations and public events.
  • Collaborate with development colleagues and Health, Peace, and Education Programs staff to organize meetings and events.
  • Draft and provide narrative and data reports and presentations as requested.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and three years of experience in fundraising or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training.
  • Substantial writing proficiency, excellent communication skills, and proven experience in managing and implementing successful fundraising/development operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Raiser's Edge experience.
  • Experience in fundraising and grants management for international programs is desirable.
