Position Overview:
The Reliability, Maintainability & Safety Engineer plays a pivotal role in delivering technical guidance and leadership within the engineering sector, particularly in the realm of commercial aerospace. This position is responsible for conducting in-depth research and executing complex engineering tasks that facilitate the adoption of innovative technologies, products, or processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough investigations to evaluate and enhance designs for compliance with safety standards.
  • Perform safety assessments for actuation subsystems in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Establish reliability and safety design criteria for actuation systems.
  • Carry out fault tree analyses and common cause assessments as necessary for subsystem safety evaluations.
  • Prepare reliability forecasts, Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs), and safety documentation that deliver comprehensive insights into new subsystem designs.
  • Provide assessments on maintainability and predictions for Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
  • Engage in customer-facing activities, which may involve travel for meetings and design reviews.
  • Offer expert technical advice and lead both internal and customer-focused design reviews, proposing methodologies for resolving complex design or customer-related challenges.
  • Deliver expert insights regarding manufacturing techniques, materials, and processes that influence long-term engineering strategies.
  • Collaborate with other technical teams to share recommendations, lessons learned, and problem-solving methodologies to enhance project contributions.
  • Prepare and present technical proposals to internal and external stakeholders to influence critical business decisions.
  • Conduct analyses and tests related to the development of new designs, methods, materials, or processes, ensuring thorough documentation of findings.
  • Compile and assess operational, testing, and research data to establish performance benchmarks for newly designed or modified systems.
  • Investigate and implement new technologies to enhance cost-effectiveness and performance through advanced engineering practices.
  • Maintain a high level of professional knowledge by participating in educational workshops, reviewing technical literature, and engaging with professional organizations.
  • Act as a consultant to management on technical matters, serving as a functional expert and mentor to other team members.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10-12 years of relevant experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering principles, industry practices, and government regulations.
  • Proven capability to research, develop, and integrate new technologies effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to influence diverse audiences and present complex topics to key stakeholders.
  • Ability to integrate knowledge from various engineering disciplines into specialized areas of expertise.
  • Proficiency in engineering design tools and data analysis software.
  • Experience in managing project goals and objectives to ensure successful completion of complex projects.
  • Ability to address significant inquiries from customers and regulatory bodies.
