Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Director of Account Strategy and Media is tasked with enhancing the strategic marketing capabilities of the Commonwealth of Virginia, while leading the account management and media operations teams.

This role is accountable to the Vice President of Brand Strategy and works in partnership with various departments across the Commonwealth to devise, implement, and manage innovative marketing strategies, messaging initiatives, and media plans that align with organizational goals and yield measurable outcomes.

The Senior Director of Account Strategy and Media acts as a proactive advocate for promoting the Commonwealth's brand by concentrating on increasing engagement, enhancing visibility, and supporting the development of impactful content that fosters positive brand perceptions.

Core Duties:

Strategic Development

Directs the formulation and execution of strategic marketing initiatives that resonate with organizational objectives, audience insights, and industry trends.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee primary and secondary research to ensure marketing insights are actionable and identify opportunities driven by consumer behavior.
  • Facilitate collaboration with creative teams to generate compelling advertising concepts and materials.
  • Craft strategic and inspiring creative briefs based on research and audience insights.
  • Evaluate creative outputs to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and brand standards.
  • Consult with internal and external partners, providing insights that elevate brand awareness and perceptions.
Account Leadership

Leads, develops, and mentors the account management team, ensuring effective project management to achieve organizational goals.


Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to the account management team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Collaborate with various teams to achieve the division's goals and objectives.
  • Manage the marketing budget, ensuring compliance with financial guidelines.
Project Execution

Accountable for delivering projects on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Implement efficient processes for project planning, scheduling, budget management, and procurement.
Media Strategy

Directs media strategy, planning, and execution with external partners to ensure innovative approaches that meet and exceed marketing objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Guide the media team and external partners in creating effective media plans that yield positive results.
  • Analyze media campaign performance metrics to assess effectiveness and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Responsible for comprehensive reporting that evaluates and enhances campaign performance.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least eight years of experience in strategic planning, account management, and client services within an advertising agency or marketing department.
  • Proficient in leading media strategy and planning efforts across various channels.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing high-performing teams.
  • Proven success in developing and executing effective marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Strong leadership and management capabilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Strategic thinker with problem-solving skills and a data-driven approach.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools and current trends in marketing and communications.
  • Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative with experience working with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ten years of experience in strategic planning, account management, and client services preferred.
