The Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating, supporting, and advocating for children, youth, and families involved in foster care, adoption, and kinship care throughout central Missouri. Our mission is to provide essential services and collaborate with community and governmental entities to foster healthy, self-sufficient individuals and families.

Established in 2007 by individuals with personal experiences in foster care and adoption, our organization has evolved from a small support group into a comprehensive service provider, assisting over 640 foster families and more than 1,400 foster children in our region. We are committed to being a vital resource for families and youth, tirelessly working to deliver essential services.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Youth Support and Advocacy Coordinator plays a crucial role in delivering personalized services to young adults who have experienced the foster care system. This position focuses on helping clients establish and achieve their goals for a successful transition into adulthood, encompassing educational, vocational, healthcare, and social connection objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the agency's policies, contractual obligations, state regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Conduct assessments, develop client narratives, create action plans, and fulfill documentation requirements promptly and accurately.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is maintained in compliance with agency policies.
  • Engage with clients at least once a month to monitor progress towards their goals and maintain consistent communication with clients and their support networks.
  • Provide advocacy and support to all clients.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings, court hearings, and training sessions.
  • Keep detailed and up-to-date records of client interactions and progress in the designated system, ensuring documentation occurs within two days of contact.
  • Collaborate with caregivers and case managers to enhance clients' support systems and family connections.
  • Actively contribute as a team member across all agency departments by attending assigned meetings.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with the direct supervisor regarding service delivery, concerns, or inquiries.

Qualifications:

  • Personal experience in Foster Care or Kinship Care (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and suggest innovative solutions for efficiency.
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills, with assessments conducted during the interview process.
  • Strong commitment to supporting and advocating for foster and adoptive families.
  • Ability to collaborate and advocate for positive outcomes, utilizing excellent interpersonal skills within diverse professional teams.
  • Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to write clearly.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, team management, and interpersonal skills, with a talent for building rapport and trust.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, capable of managing multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from various backgrounds.
  • Exemplify ethical and professional conduct at all times.
  • Experience working with marginalized communities and a nuanced understanding of systemic challenges.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to adjust communication styles to suit diverse cultures and individuals.
  • Willingness to accommodate flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
