Job Overview

Position Summary:
As a Youth Engagement Specialist, you will interact with and oversee Club Members in designated program areas across various Club locations, ensuring a Safe, Positive, and Enjoyable environment. You will collaborate with fellow staff to design, structure, and maintain an Optimal Club Experience that fosters a Sense of Belonging, Positive Peer Interactions, and Strong Mentor-Youth Relationships. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the cleanliness and organization of program areas, equipment, and supplies while actively supporting scheduled programming and encouraging Club Members to participate in activities. You will cultivate meaningful relationships with Club Members to enhance Positive Youth Development, Emotional and Physical Safety, and Healthy Youth Relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Youth Development:

  1. Facilitate programs, activities, and services.
  2. Create an environment conducive to Positive Youth Development.
  3. Ensure a safe and healthy atmosphere (both physically and emotionally) for all Club Members at all times.
  4. Adhere to the Code of Ethics for the organization.
  5. Comply with licensing policies and regulations.
  6. Participate in all mandatory staff meetings.
  7. Follow all Club policies and procedures.

Resource Management:

  1. Assist in program evaluation and outcome measurement.
  2. Timely completion of program data collection, such as attendance and pre/post assessments in an engaging manner.

Marketing & Public Relations:

  1. Support initiatives aimed at increasing Club membership, retention, and engagement.
  2. May take part in special programs and events.
  3. Regularly communicate progress and developmental achievements to parents.
  4. Assist with program participation logistics, such as field trip permissions, and generate enthusiasm among youth.

Relationships
  • Internal: Maintain close, daily communication with Club Staff (both professional and volunteer), Club Members, and supervisors to exchange information, discuss issues, and provide guidance; engage and mentor Club Members.
  • External: Interact with community groups, schools, parents of members, and others to resolve issues as necessary.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required for this position:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: College coursework in child-related fields.
  • Preferred: Experience in out-of-school programming or similar roles supervising youth.
  • Knowledge of youth development principles.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Able to anticipate youth needs and maintain a structured schedule.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Preferred: Valid Class E driver's license with a good driving record and a minimum of three years of driving experience.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications (can be obtained upon employment).

Working Conditions
  • Occasionally required to lift items up to 25 pounds (e.g., files, equipment).
  • Regularly required to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Regularly required to utilize near vision for reading data and documents, including spreadsheets and reports, both in print and on screens.
