Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Development Officer to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support the university's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Fundraising Strategy: Create and execute a strategic plan to identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships: Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, alumni, and university leaders, to advance the university's fundraising goals.
  • Lead a Team of Development Professionals: Supervise and mentor a team of development professionals to ensure effective execution of fundraising strategies and goals.
  • Collaborate with University Leaders: Work closely with university leaders to identify and prioritize fundraising opportunities, and to develop and implement strategies to achieve those goals.
  • Manage Budget and Resources: Oversee the development budget and resources to ensure effective use of funds and optimal return on investment.
Requirements
  • 7+ Years of Development Experience: Proven track record of success in development, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Proven Fundraising Ability: Demonstrated ability to secure major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Strong Leadership and Management Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of development professionals, with a focus on collaboration, communication, and results-driven leadership.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree or Higher: Advanced degree in a related field, such as business, non-profit management, or higher education administration.
  • Experience in Higher Education Fundraising: Proven experience in higher education fundraising, with a focus on major gifts and strategic planning.
