About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our editorial team and drive the success of our newsroom. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the assignment of editorial content, leading a team of journalists, and making strategic decisions to promote quality and engage audiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the assignment of editorial content and lead a team of journalists
  • Make data-informed decisions about what's resonating to connect our audience with the stories that matter
  • Oversee the Managing Editor and provide newsroom-wide mentorship
  • Develop and execute on ideas to expand Spectrum Networks' current audiences in a deeply collaborative and transparent setting
  • Support our writers and editors in making tough journalistic calls in fast-moving news cycles
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in newsroom management in a fast-paced, constantly evolving digital publishing environment
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, management, or related field
  • Sound understanding of the evolving digital media landscape
  • Demonstrated, applied understanding of the centrality of visual journalism, digital video, and social media to journalism
  • Ability to work collaboratively with in-house product/platform teams to figure out more ways to increase the reach of our journalism
  • Ability to develop and execute on ideas that can expand Spectrum Networks' current audiences in a deeply collaborative and transparent setting
