Position Overview:
This role is situated within the Environmental Permitting Section of the Corporate Environmental Services Department, dedicated to facilitating the development of new renewable projects for NextEra Energy Resources and its affiliates.
The appointed individual will oversee a team of environmental specialists engaged in the environmental permitting processes for projects across the Mountain West region.
This position is remote, requiring the candidate to work from home within the western United States. Travel commitments may arise, potentially occurring 2 to 3 times monthly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of professionals focused on environmental permitting.
- Oversee environmental siting, licensing, permitting, and due diligence.
- Manage project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Provide strategic oversight of environmental field studies and consultants.
- Assess and communicate environmental risks effectively.
- Negotiate with federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.
- Develop and manage vendor contracts, purchase orders, and invoices.
- Handle personnel activities, including hiring, performance evaluations, and mentoring.
- Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of environmental regulations, particularly the National Environmental Policy Act and related regulations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and professional skills.
- Proficient in commercial skills, written and verbal communication, integrity, compliance, leadership, and project management.
Job Duties:
- Secure all necessary federal, state, and local environmental licenses, permits, and approvals for development projects.
- Support various projects with complex environmental and regulatory challenges, assisting in comprehensive environmental due diligence for potential acquisitions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant national and state environmental policies and regulations.
- Interface with internal and external customers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to resolve intricate environmental issues.
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and company policies.
- Translate regulations and permits into actionable compliance tasks for construction.
- Provide specialized environmental expertise and technical support.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in project and team leadership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Master’s Degree in a related field.
- Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, negotiations, and compliance.
Compensation:
The estimated base salary for this position ranges from $123,200.00 to $184,800.00 annually, influenced by factors such as experience, qualifications, and industry knowledge.
