Job Summary

Milwaukee Area Technical College is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Contract Administration Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for coordinating and supporting new construction, remodeling, and renovation projects in accordance with contract drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Administration: Assist in the development and review of front-end bidding documents, schedule and conduct contract bid openings, and prequalify contractors for bidding purposes.
  • Contract Management: Prepare and process construction contracts, provide support for the development and review of professional agreements, and process change orders and contractor payment applications.
  • Project Coordination: Provide overall coordination of the contractor prequalification process, interpret construction contract and professional agreement terms and conditions, and serve as a liaison with compliance agencies.
  • Communication and Outreach: Educate contractors on college and state contractual requirements, lead outreach initiatives with the construction community, and administer the contractor evaluation process.
  • Policy and Procedure: Review policies and documents to ensure consistency with evolving industry standards and practices, and support requisition, invoice review, and processing.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering or related field.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of related work experience in construction renovation and maintenance projects, with preferred experience of five (5) years.
  • Certification: Certified Construction Contract Administration (CCCA) certification is desirable, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of building, safety, and related codes, ordinances, and regulations, as well as owner-A/E and owner-contractor agreements and AIA standard forms.
  • Skills: Strong written communication skills, ability to use computers applications including Microsoft Office Suite software, and deadline and detail-oriented with strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, students, representatives from outside agencies, and the general public, and ability to understand, interpret, and explain rules, regulations, procedures, and written and oral instructions.
