The Program Coordinator within the Child and Family Services Department plays a crucial role in delivering administrative assistance to ensure smooth daily operations. This position involves welcoming families and providing essential support within Childcare and Head Start programs, alongside managing data entry and support tasks for the Family Services initiative.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED; bilingual skills (Spanish) are advantageous.
  • At least two years of relevant clerical or administrative experience, with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Fundamental cooking abilities.
  • Experience in food service or hospitality is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • The capability to obtain a Serv-Safe Certification.
Key Responsibilities
  • Attend meetings as required and document minutes.
  • Handle incoming calls professionally, directing them appropriately and addressing general inquiries regarding the Head Start Program or other Family Services programs.
  • Assist with the application process for Head Start/Early Head Start services as necessary.
  • Receive and distribute deliveries for the Child and Family Services department.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Oversee the pick-up and drop-off process for children.
  • Input data into various systems for screenings, assessments, and family support initiatives.
  • Engage in active supervision of children, adhering to established supervision policies.
  • Support the organization of food deliveries.
  • Help prepare meals and snacks for children, staff, and volunteers, following USDA guidelines.
  • Assist with post-meal clean-up, ensuring sanitation of kitchen areas and equipment.
  • Maintain safe food storage and uphold kitchen sanitation standards.
  • Exemplify good hygiene and appropriate conduct for self, staff, and volunteers.
  • Occasionally work with children on food-related activities as requested.
  • Keep records of meal attendance and food quantities provided.
  • Assume the cook's responsibilities in their absence.
  • Pursue ongoing education in nutrition and food service through workshops and training opportunities.
  • Stay informed about the special dietary needs of program children, including food allergies.
  • Communicate any concerns or suggestions regarding child nutrition to the Kitchen Supervisor or Food Services Manager.
  • Be prepared to transport food to other locations if necessary.
  • Perform any additional duties or projects assigned by the supervisor or CFS Director to benefit the program.
