Position Overview
This role is pivotal in overseeing the execution of the grant aimed at Minority Serving Institutions, ensuring compliance with grant stipulations and aligning with the mission of CHESS. The coordinator will collaborate with strategic partners, consultants, suppliers, and various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish partnerships with minority communities and support organizations to enhance student enrollment and resources for CHESS.

• Take responsibility for achieving milestone tasks within set deadlines.

• Prepare and submit accurate reports to the funding agency in a timely manner.

• Develop, implement, and assess outreach programs, events, and training initiatives tailored for minority students, ensuring continuous improvement.

• Manage the grant budget, monitoring actual versus projected expenditures, and collaborate with the Grant Accountant for accuracy.

• Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely delivery of program commitments.

• Identify the needs of minority communities and work towards viable solutions within the grant's framework.

• Represent CHESS at regional STEM events, participating in travel as necessary.

• Collaborate with Purchasing to obtain necessary equipment and supplies through solicited quotes.

• Work with various departments to recruit and refer students and participants.

• Monitor and document annual achievements related to the grant.

• Create and share success stories from the program.

• Perform additional related duties as required.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Proven expertise in managing multiple programs with minimal supervision, particularly in program evaluation, reporting, and budgeting.

• Strong understanding of program planning, development, and implementation, coupled with effective leadership skills.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and network effectively across diverse communities.

• Proficient in developing and delivering both oral and written presentations.

• Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage information dissemination to various audiences.

• Competence in making administrative decisions and judgments.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Familiarity with social media marketing strategies.

• Understanding of college policies and procedures.

Supervision

The Dean of CHESS will assign work based on established goals and objectives, reviewing performance through discussions, reports, and observations.

Guidelines

Guidelines include federal regulations, college policies, and departmental procedures, requiring discretion in their application.

Complexity and Scope of Work

• The role involves diverse evaluation, consultation, and strategic relationship-building tasks, contributing to its complexity.

• Travel requirements and the technical nature of objectives add to the complexity of the position.

• Specialized knowledge in federal grant management and special project oversight is essential.

• The position demands recruiting students and participants, forming strategic alliances, and coordinating with multiple departments.

Contacts

• Regular interactions with internal and external colleagues, consultants, community leaders, and various stakeholders.

• Contacts are primarily for establishing partnerships, exchanging information, resolving issues, and promoting support and participation.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Work is generally performed in an office or classroom setting, involving sitting, standing, and occasional lifting of light to moderate objects.

• Travel is a component of the role.

Minimum Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree in a relevant field is required.

• Sufficient experience to grasp the fundamental principles related to the primary responsibilities of the position, typically gained through two or more years of similar experience.

• A valid driver's license issued by the State of New Mexico is required for the type of vehicle operated.
