Nuclear Systems Engineer Opportunity at Idaho National Laboratory (INL)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operation of cutting-edge micro reactor systems at the NRIC test facilities.
  • Evaluate system performance, monitor operational trends, and ensure optimal reactor functionality.
  • Verify that designs adhere to national safety codes and standards for reactor systems.
  • Assess safety-critical reactor systems and associated equipment.
  • Collaborate on various advanced micro reactor initiatives.
  • Perform engineering analyses, draft specifications, and generate reports for reactor systems and components.
  • Maintain configuration management for designated systems.
  • Work in close partnership with the Technical Program Manager and the Lead Engineer for Demonstration Reactors.
  • Create detailed design schematics and develop control system wiring diagrams.
  • Exhibit strong teamwork skills and effectively lead assigned tasks.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 3-6 years with a Master's degree.
  • Experience in system engineering for safety-critical reactor systems is preferred.
  • Capability to obtain and sustain a Department of Energy 'Q' clearance.

  • Competitive salary range: Level 3 ($91,588) / Level 4 ($109,908).
