Position Overview

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Nuclear Engineer to join our Measurement Sciences division. This role involves applying advanced nuclear engineering principles to innovate, test, and evaluate nuclear systems and equipment. The successful candidate will engage in research focused on materials pertinent to radiation detection, nuclear fuels, and reactor technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design teams, analysts, and stakeholders to establish experimental criteria and develop protocols for the management of spent nuclear fuel.
  • Employ sophisticated nuclear engineering design methodologies to break down project objectives into precise and manageable design specifications.
  • Utilize industry-standard design practices and technologies to create robust designs, ensuring compliance with established requirements.
  • Document all design processes, including models, drawings, specifications, and descriptions, to demonstrate adherence to regulatory standards and design criteria.
  • Define testing, inspection, and quality assurance measures to uphold critical design features.
  • Supervise or ensure that all fabrication, construction, assembly, and procurement activities align with the approved design.

Qualifications:

  • Level 1: Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Level 2: Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with no prior experience.
  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'L' clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range for Level 1: $63,528 - $130,284; Level 2: $75,804 - $155,496, determined by education, experience, and qualifications.
