We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Systems Engineer to join our team at the Idaho National Laboratory. As a key member of our Reactor Project Engineering department, you will play a critical role in supporting the National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) and contributing to the development of advanced microreactors.
Key Responsibilities- Provide oversight and guidance on the design, development, and operation of safety-related reactor systems and equipment.
- Perform performance monitoring, tracking, and trending of reactor systems, as well as maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure compliance with national consensus codes and standards for safety-related reactor systems.
- Collaborate with the Technical Program Manager and Demonstration Reactor Lead Engineer to ensure reactors meet applicable nuclear safety criteria.
- Develop and maintain configuration management for assigned systems and designs.
- Design and oversee the development and installation of support systems and equipment.
- Develop control system wiring, logic hardware design, and configuration.
- Develop system and equipment design documents, including process and instrument control drawings, system design descriptions, calculations, and analyses.
- Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other related Engineering degree, with 5-8 years of experience, or a Master of Science Degree and 3-6 years of experience.
- Experience as a system engineer for safety-related reactor systems and equipment at a nuclear power plant is highly desirable.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
