Idaho National Laboratory is a premier applied engineering facility focused on advancing the U.S. Department of Energy's objectives in nuclear energy innovation, scientific research, and national security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operation of cutting-edge micro reactor systems within the NRIC testing facilities.
- Analyze performance metrics, identify trends, and ensure optimal reactor functionality during operations.
- Verify that designs adhere to national consensus codes and standards for safety-critical reactor systems.
- Conduct thorough reviews of safety-related reactor systems and associated equipment.
- Collaborate on various advanced micro reactor initiatives.
- Perform engineering calculations, draft specifications, and compile reports for reactor systems and equipment.
- Maintain configuration management for designated systems.
- Work in close partnership with the Technical Program Manager and the Demonstration Reactor Lead Engineer.
- Create detailed design schematics and develop control system wiring.
- Exhibit strong teamwork capabilities and effectively lead assigned tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5-8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 3-6 years with a Master's degree.
- Prior experience as a systems engineer for safety-critical reactor systems is preferred.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'Q' clearance.
