Position Overview

The Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a skilled Nuclear Engineer to join our Measurement Sciences division. This role involves applying advanced nuclear engineering principles to innovate and assess nuclear systems and equipment. The position operates on a 9x80 schedule, allowing for every other Friday off, and is based out of our Research Education facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design teams, analysts, and stakeholders to establish experimental criteria and develop protocols for the management of spent nuclear fuel.
  • Utilize comprehensive nuclear engineering design methodologies to translate project objectives into specific and manageable design requirements.
  • Implement industry-leading design practices and technologies to create and validate designs that adhere to established specifications.
  • Document all design processes, including models, drawings, and specifications, to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Set forth testing and quality assurance protocols to uphold the integrity of technical features relevant to design responsibilities.
  • Supervise the fabrication, construction, and assembly processes to guarantee adherence to design specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Level 1: Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Level 2: Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with no prior experience.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'L' clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.

  • Competitive salary range: Level 1 ($63,528 - $130,284) / Level 2 ($75,804 - $155,496), based on education and experience.
