Position Overview:

Title: Director, Edge Security Ops

Role Objective

The External Defense Perimeter team is a proactive unit dedicated to ensuring that Fidelity's external defenses are effectively deployed to mitigate external threats targeting our application infrastructure. As the leader of Perimeter Defense, you will oversee the enterprise edge security mission, strategy, and execution of industry-leading solutions designed to safeguard Fidelity from external cyber threats. Your responsibilities will include developing capabilities for external threat cybersecurity defense operations and aligning them with strategic priorities.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Extensive experience leading Edge Security Operations, including Web Application Firewalls, Email Security, and network security.
  • Proven ability to enhance perimeter security posture, minimize external vulnerabilities, and protect business and client data from cyber threats.
  • In-depth understanding of Edge Security operations processes, including incident management and change management.
  • Expertise in perimeter and cloud security, with a strong grasp of current trends and best practices in edge security.
  • Data-driven mindset to analyze fraud data and prioritize detection and prevention efforts.
  • Commitment to ensuring compliance with corporate policies and facilitating successful audits.
  • Adept at translating strategic objectives into actionable plans to enhance value delivery.
  • Strong execution focus, with the ability to identify and eliminate obstacles to progress.
  • Proven leadership skills, capable of influencing and motivating teams without formal authority, with a history of building high-performing teams.

Daily Responsibilities

People Management and Stakeholder Engagement (40%):

  • Lead a team of senior subject matter experts, aligning Edge Security Operations with business priorities.
  • Engage with senior leaders from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds, effectively communicating the business benefits of Enterprise IT.
  • Exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills to build trust and foster collaborative relationships with internal partners, driving global and regional initiatives forward.
  • Manage a diverse team of Cyber Security Operations professionals, focusing on talent retention, performance evaluation, and professional development.

Technical Responsibilities (40%):

  • Oversee a wide range of operational functions, including Web Application Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, and Cloud Security.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Email Security and Advanced Threat Protection, analyzing attack patterns to enhance protective measures.
  • Conduct Firewall Rules reviews and assess network security posture.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for cybersecurity defense, ensuring effective response and recovery from security incidents.
  • Influence critical security architecture decisions in high-pressure scenarios.
  • Manage the maturity of perimeter security products and ensure alignment with business value.
  • Possess a deep understanding of enterprise security architecture practices and methodologies.
  • Make informed decisions during high-pressure situations, particularly during cyber incidents.
  • Develop comprehensive service roadmaps and architectures, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Foster consensus across multiple business divisions while challenging the status quo.

Performance Metrics (20%):

  • Implement automated security metrics scorecards to enable proactive responses to security incidents.
  • Create actionable dashboards that align product maturity with strategic goals.
