Position Overview:

The University of Washington is seeking a strategic leader for the role of Director of Human Resources within the UW Information Technology division. This position is pivotal in shaping and executing a comprehensive people strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Human Resources unit, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and regulations.
  • Provide training and coaching to supervisors and staff on real-time HR issues.
  • Analyze organizational health trends and collaborate with leadership to address concerns.
  • Oversee employee relations, leave administration, and disciplinary consultations.
  • Drive recruitment efforts, enhancing the partnership between the recruiting team and leadership.
  • Manage strategic projects within UW-IT and collaborate with other campus units.

Position Complexities:

This role requires a deep understanding of employment laws and policies at federal, state, and university levels. The Director must navigate a complex employment landscape, demonstrating strong business acumen and relationship-building skills. Additionally, the position demands an ability to manage diverse funding models impacting hiring and compensation strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing high-volume recruitment processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • HR certification (SPHR or PHR).
  • Experience in a university or large enterprise setting.
  • Familiarity with financial and HR/payroll systems.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a hybrid work environment, with expectations for in-office presence several days a week. The office setting is open and collaborative, fostering teamwork and communication.
