Core Responsibilities:

This position encompasses comprehensive project management, technical specifications, design, analysis, installation oversight, equipment commissioning, and manufacturing processes.

As an Automation/Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting manufacturing operations by designing, specifying, procuring, and constructing automated and electrical systems (both hardware and software).

Engineers are expected to engage in hands-on activities and collaborate with various levels of personnel, including managing contract engineering resources when necessary.

Key Duties:
  • Develop initial designs, define functional specifications for new machinery and systems, estimate budgets, ensure procurement of necessary components, oversee electrical equipment fabrication, manage vendor relationships, and deliver comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Engage directly with operators and maintenance teams to gain in-depth knowledge of processes and equipment.
  • Provide technical support for the maintenance, modification, and installation of manufacturing equipment, including troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Participate in all aspects of project management, including economic justification, design, vendor procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification, machine acceptance, and training for operations and maintenance.
  • Act as a liaison between facility engineering, quality assurance, methods, purchasing teams, and equipment suppliers to ensure a clear understanding of system requirements.
Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required, along with demonstrated project management experience. An Associate's degree with extensive experience may also be considered.

Proven skills in electrical design and the ability to work with electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems in a manufacturing environment are essential.

A minimum of 5 years of industrial electrical design experience is preferred, although candidates with strong potential may be considered for training.

Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities are crucial, with a demonstrated capacity to set and achieve goals independently. Building positive relationships with stakeholders is essential.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities are required. Effective teamwork, communication, and planning skills are necessary. Previous experience in project management or team leadership is advantageous.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are vital, with the ability to influence and resolve issues effectively. Proficiency in communicating technical matters with French counterparts is a plus.

Maintain confidentiality when dealing with external contractors and suppliers.

Experience with the latest version of AutoCAD Electrical and PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley) is mandatory. Familiarity with robotics (Fanuc), vision systems (Keyence or Cognex), and measurement technologies (laser profilometer) is beneficial.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint) is expected.
