Job Overview

Position Objective: Enhance production efficiency by ensuring that robotic systems and automated machinery operate at optimal performance levels. This role involves troubleshooting, adjusting, and programming robotic systems to align with operational requirements, thereby boosting productivity and minimizing cycle times.

Key Responsibilities:

The incumbent is responsible for:

  • Installing and repairing electrical systems, including transformers, wiring, and electronic components of machinery.
  • Conducting visual inspections and testing of machinery, documenting all maintenance activities.
  • Listening for abnormal sounds from machines to identify malfunctions and collaborating with supervisors to diagnose issues.
  • Dismantling defective machinery and installing new or refurbished parts.
  • Cleaning and lubricating various components of machinery.
  • Designing, assembling, and maintaining piping systems along with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, including the repair and replacement of gauges and valves.
  • Implementing and managing a preventative maintenance program for all production and facility equipment.
  • Assisting in tool and material flow, changeovers, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilizing hand and machine tools safely, including grinders, saws, lathes, and mills.
  • Troubleshooting robotic controllers and programming automated machinery to ensure proper operation.
  • Preparing and adjusting robotic programs and welding parameters as necessary.
  • Analyzing robotically welded products to identify necessary adjustments to programming and parameters.
  • Providing maintenance support and troubleshooting for all equipment.
  • Collaborating with Controls Engineering to address chronic reliability issues through software and programming recommendations.

Additional Responsibilities:

The incumbent is also responsible for:

  • Conducting all business activities in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Supporting adherence to all corporate health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness in quality-related tasks, while seeking improvements.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a technical school; five years of relevant experience in a maintenance role, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience in robotic programming, preferably with Motoman or Siemens.
  • Two years of experience with automated welding equipment.
  • Three years of experience in an industrial automated environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Motoman Robotics XRC, NX, DX Programming, Siemens, or Allen Bradley.
  • Advanced knowledge of welding and metal forming techniques.
  • Experience in developing and troubleshooting programs for industrial robots.
  • Ability to troubleshoot synchronized programs and make minor adjustments to robotic paths.
  • Understanding of manual and automated welding processes, including MIG and TIG.
  • Capability to install and maintain mechanical and electrical systems, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience in robotic troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and ladder programming.
  • Ability to train and mentor team members.
  • Familiarity with PLC and electrical diagrams.
  • Knowledge of MIG welding processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Working Conditions:

The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.

  • Ability to lift and carry weights ranging from 0 to over 100 lbs.
