Sales Route Specialist

Summary

The Sales Route Specialist (SRS) plays a crucial role in the ordering, distribution, and merchandising of a variety of nationally and locally recognized fresh baked goods. This position focuses on cultivating relationships with retail customers, restaurant managers, and other key personnel. The SRS is assigned to a specific route to serve retail clients, dining establishments, and institutions, aiming to maximize sales potential by meeting customer needs and adhering to established best practices.

This role requires the SRS to service accounts during designated service hours, which may involve working outside of traditional business hours, including weekends and holidays.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong desire to acquire industry knowledge and develop the skills necessary for success.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilizing internal sales data and marketing strategies to foster growth with clients through effective planning, ordering, and execution.
  • Building and maintaining robust customer relationships to effectively communicate sales solutions and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Placing orders using a state-of-the-art online ordering system to ensure clients receive the freshest products available.
  • Driving sales through expanding shelf space and implementing in-store promotions and displays.
  • Following the designated route structure, stop sequence, and service times to ensure efficiency and consistent customer satisfaction.
  • Understanding and adhering to all retailer/account standard operating procedures, including check-in/check-out processes and service windows.
  • Complying with fresh market policies by properly rotating products and removing any damaged or expired items as necessary.
  • Managing the shelf-life cycle of each product to maximize freshness and ensure proper rotation of backstock.
  • Completing daily route settlement tasks, including verifying product quantities, accurately invoicing accounts, and following cash collection policies.
  • Conducting accurate weekly inventory checks using handheld devices at select accounts on designated days.
  • Supporting the launch of new products in the market based on retailer guidelines and securing additional shelf space and promotional displays to drive consumer engagement.
  • Obtaining necessary approvals from key decision-makers for promotional displays and ensuring they are strategically placed to maximize visibility and sales.

Desired Experience

A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in retail sales, direct store delivery (DSD) sales, or business-to-business sales is preferred.

Desired Education

A high school diploma or GED is required.
