Your Role

At Stantec, we focus on designing transit facilities across North America, including bus and rail stations, operations centers, and multimodal transit hubs. Our approach emphasizes collaborative design solutions that not only meet but exceed client expectations.

We are seeking a Senior Architect with a strong background in transit and civic projects. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with senior leadership to guide clients through the development of innovative, sustainable, and award-winning designs. Your expertise will help foster client relationships and provide strategic insights to our leadership team. You will leverage your extensive knowledge of construction documents, specifications, and building regulations to lead a diverse team of professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee complex tasks across multiple high-stakes projects.
  • Engage in project interviews to secure new work opportunities.
  • Organize and direct project workflows to ensure successful delivery.
  • Collaborate with clients and project teams to align designs with budget, schedule, and objectives.
  • Negotiate project agreements in partnership with Stantec leadership.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and schedules to achieve financial targets.
  • Build and maintain client relationships while providing strategic guidance.
  • Mentor and motivate a multidisciplinary team.
  • Facilitate project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage change orders and contractor payment applications to maintain budget and schedule integrity.
  • Work with operations management to assess project staffing needs.
  • Oversee client invoicing and manage collections effectively.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in project management and proposal development.
  • Established relationships with transit agencies in the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility and life-safety codes, construction systems, and industry standards.
  • Proactive in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Collaborative team player with clients and project teams.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with project management software such as Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Project.
  • Understanding of architectural and engineering systems.
  • Experience with design/build delivery methods and LEAN practices is a plus.
  • Knowledge of federal and local agency standards and the ability to mentor others.
  • Quickly generates design alternatives and solutions.
  • Proficient in design and technical concepts.

Education and Experience

A minimum of 10 years of professional experience is required. Candidates should hold a degree from an accredited architectural program and possess relevant experience in an architectural firm. Licensure in California is required or must be obtained within one year. LEED accreditation or experience is preferred.

Work is typically performed in an office environment, with some fieldwork that may involve exposure to various weather conditions.
