Your Role

We specialize in the design of transit facilities across North America, focusing on bus and rail stations, maintenance facilities, and multimodal transit centers. Our firm leads the market in creating sustainable environments and is committed to delivering exceptional design solutions that align with our clients' goals through collaborative efforts. We are seeking a SENIOR ARCHITECT with a strong background in transit and civic projects. In this role, you will work closely with senior leadership to guide clients in developing fiscally responsible and sustainable designs that have received industry recognition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee intricate tasks across multiple complex projects.
  • Participate in client interviews to secure project opportunities.
  • Organize and manage project workflows to ensure successful delivery.
  • Collaborate with clients and project teams to meet design objectives within budget and timelines.
  • Negotiate project agreements in conjunction with senior leadership.
  • Develop and oversee project budgets and schedules to achieve financial targets.
  • Foster client relationships and provide strategic insights to leadership.
  • Mentor and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
  • Facilitate project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage change orders and contractor payments, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule.
  • Assist in determining project staffing needs and recommend personnel.
  • Oversee client invoicing and manage collections effectively.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in project management and securing work through proposals.
  • Established relationships with transit agencies in the Bay Area.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility and life-safety codes, construction systems, and industry standards.
  • Proactive in taking initiative without needing constant direction.
  • Excellent at managing competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Collaborative team player with clients and project teams.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with project management software such as Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Project.
  • Understanding of architectural and engineering system concepts.
  • Experience with design/build project delivery and LEAN design practices is preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and local agency standards and the ability to educate others.
  • Skilled in generating design alternatives and solutions quickly.
  • Proficient in design and technical concepts.

Education and Experience

A minimum of 10 years of experience is required. Candidates should be graduates of accredited architectural programs and possess professional experience in an architectural setting. Licensure in California is required or must be attainable within one year. LEED AP or relevant project experience is preferred.

Work Environment

This position typically involves working in an office environment with extended periods of computer use. Fieldwork may involve exposure to various weather conditions.
