Your Role
At Stantec, we focus on designing Transit Facilities across North America, including bus and rail stations, operations and maintenance hubs, multimodal transit centers, and park-and-ride facilities. Our goal is to deliver transformative design solutions that surpass client expectations through interdisciplinary collaboration. We are passionate about crafting impactful projects that provide substantial value to clients, users, and the community.
We are seeking a Lead Architect with a strong interest and expertise in transit, infrastructure, and civic initiatives. As a key member of our Transit Architecture team, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership to guide clients through the planning and development of fiscally responsible, sustainable, and award-winning designs. Your experience will enable you to foster client relationships and contribute strategic insights to Stantec's leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee complex tasks across multiple high-stakes projects.
- Participate in project interviews to secure new work.
- Plan, organize, and manage project workflows to ensure successful delivery.
- Guide the project team to ensure alignment with client budgets, schedules, and design objectives.
- Negotiate and formulate project agreements in collaboration with Stantec leadership.
- Develop and oversee project budgets, schedules, and overall work plans to achieve financial targets.
- Foster client relationships and provide strategic insights to Stantec leadership.
- Mentor and motivate a multidisciplinary team.
- Lead project coordination and meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage change orders and contractor payment applications impacting budget and schedule.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager to assess project staffing needs.
- Direct client invoicing and manage collections effectively.
Qualifications
Capabilities and Credentials
- Extensive project experience that supports winning proposals.
- Established relationships with transit agencies in the SF Bay area.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, and building construction standards.
- Proactive in taking action without needing continuous direction.
- Effectively manages multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Collaborative team player with clients and project teams.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with project software such as Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Project.
- Understanding of architectural and engineering system concepts.
- Experience with design/build project delivery and LEAN design practices is preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and local agency standards and requirements.
- Ability to quickly develop design alternatives and solutions.
- Skilled in design and technical concepts.
Education and Experience
A minimum of 10 years of experience is required. Candidates should be graduates of accredited architectural programs with professional experience in an architectural office. Licensure in California is required or must be achievable within one year. LEED AP or experience with LEED projects is preferred.
This position typically involves working in an office environment with extended periods of computer use. Fieldwork may involve exposure to various weather conditions.
