About the Role

Thrive Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Economic Services Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing financial stability and economic empowerment to individuals and families in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide housing and financial counseling education to individuals and households, helping them achieve economic stability and self-sufficiency.
  • Conduct family assessments and identify short-term and long-term economic goals, developing personalized plans to achieve them.
  • Offer one-on-one counseling and group education on topics related to economic success, including financial management, budgeting, and asset-building.
  • Serve as a financial management, housing, employment pathways, and community connections resource, connecting clients with local resources and services.
  • Establish relationships with employment service providers, housing partnership networks, and community partners, fostering a collaborative approach to economic development.
  • Advocate for program participants, working with local organizations to ensure access to resources and services.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual reports, ensuring compliance with HUD and Virginia Housing standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date files and records using Microsoft Suite and EmpowOR.
  • Attend community meetings related to housing and financial literacy initiatives, maintaining a referral system for internal and external partners.
  • Support projects at the Family C.A.R.E Center, working with clients to achieve economic stability and self-sufficiency.
  • Participate in professional development to stay current on best practices, ensuring the highest level of service delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in psychology, social work, human services, accounting, or a related field.
  • Preference given to those who hold a HUD Housing Counselor Certification or are willing to become HUD Certified upon hiring.
  • Some experience providing direct services to at-risk families or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proof of adequate personal automobile insurance, with the ability to operate an agency-owned vehicle, rented vehicle, or personal vehicle on behalf of Thrive Virginia.

  • Successful background check.
  • Ability to travel locally and statewide.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including night and weekend hours.
