ICF International Inc is looking for an Environmental Field Specialist to oversee evaluations of ambient air monitoring stations at both state and local levels. This role involves assessing air quality parameters such as particulate matter (PM2.5), lead (Pb), ozone, sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and other significant pollutants. The position offers a hybrid work model, combining remote work with necessary travel and reporting to a designated office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in travel, including overnight stays, across designated regions. This entails extensive driving and occasional air travel, with travel commitments expected to reach up to 50% of the time.
  • Collect and transport particulate matter filter samples for laboratory analysis focusing on PM2.5 and lead (Pb).
  • Employ various instruments for on-site air quality assessments, including measurements of ozone, NO2, SO2, and other pollutants.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and operate air sampling and analytical equipment.
  • Collaborate with local and state air monitoring personnel to arrange side-by-side testing for operational audits.
  • Conduct sampling and analysis adhering strictly to established protocols.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports utilizing MS Word.
  • Analyze and present air quality data using MS Excel.
Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or a related field, or 4 years of relevant experience in environmental field sampling.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, capable of driving significant distances.
  • Physical capability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, utilize ladders, and work at heights while adhering to safety standards.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various environmental conditions, including inclement weather.
  • Ability to successfully complete annual Health and Safety training and Medical Monitoring.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Must pass a background check to gain access to federal properties.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Experience in sampling and analyzing air pollutants, specifically PM2.5 and ozone.
  • Current or previous certifications related to EPA PM2.5 and/or through the probe (TTP) field scientist roles.
  • Possession of OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and current refresher training.
  • Mechanical skills for operating and maintaining analytical instruments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Experience in federal facilities or with the Department of Defense (DoD) or EPA.
